"When contractors are paid large sums upfront, they have less incentive to fix problems, and customers have less leverage to compel them to do so."

Don't Give them Half Upfront!
Let's be honest – almost all reputable companies never require half upfront. Did you pay $20,000 upfront for your new $40,000 SUV? Did Jeff Ruby ask for half of the cost of your steak dinner upfront? No! Why should concrete be any different?
Once the concrete is poured, there is no inexpensive or straightforward fix. If a mistake is made, the labor and material cost of removing the concrete and repouring it will far exceed the contractor's profit. When contractors are paid large sums upfront, they have less incentive to fix problems, and customers have less leverage to compel them to do so. The world is full of unscrupulous, fly-by-night contractors. Don't get scammed!
If opting for a contractor other than Gentrup Concrete, exercise caution and restrict the upfront payment to a maximum of 10% of the total bid amount. It's crucial to engage with reputable contractors and, above all, insist on a comprehensive, written contract. Clear terms and conditions protect both parties and contribute to a successful and transparent working relationship.
